The Young Women’s Christian Association of Queens was founded by immigrant women who came to the United States to become productive members of society.  For the past 40 years our members, staff and board have worked hard to embody the American spirit of Freedom, Opportunity, and Inclusion in our actions, and we fully believe that through hard work and mutual cooperation, all members of our community can thrive, be strong and add to what makes this country great.

Recent actions by the Administration regarding immigration policy has caused confusion and fear from our community.  We have seen that these changes have already had a negative impact on immigrants, visa holders and refugees.  To address this very real issue the YWCA of Queens is currently working to expand our direct work to support immigrants, so that we can be a resource through these difficult times.   This includes more civics education, know your rights workshops, and more work helping to our community members to understand the new landscape and how it will affect their daily lives.

To do this, we need your help.  The YWCA of Queens will be relying on our community members and companies to help us in supporting our work through funding, volunteers and outreach.

The YWCA of Queens members, staff and board are proud to be Americans, and proud have an organization named after this wonderful borough, also known as the World’s Borough for its immigrants.  We will continue to speak out against inequality and work to foster peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.
