We are proud to have hosted the 19th annual New York Music Competition Winner’s Concert and Awards Ceremony at Merkin Concert Hall, on Wednesday evening, June 1, 2016.
Every year, young aspiring artists converge at the YWCA and compete for this opportunity, and we have grown to see the performances of over 1,700 music students aged 7-19 since the Competition launched 19 years ago.
This year we were excited to introduce William Chen, our 12 year old Grand Prize winner who demonstrated his incredible musical gifts on piano to a amazed audience.
In addition, we presented Benjamin Wenzelberg, our First Prize winner for Composition.
He performed his original 2 piano piece, “Lace Avenue” for the audience. This was the first time the NYMC Winner’s Concert and Awards Ceremony presented an original composition for the public.
The audience was also treated to a remarkable performance by our other concert winners.
Many thanks to all of the family and friends for their unwavering support for these amazing young artists.
