The YWCA of Queens hosted a “Know your Rights!” Event this past Friday, August 5th. Students and community members joined in for a workshop about the different laws and policies that protect undocumented immigrants and the general immigrant population both on a national and city-wide level. Furthermore, students and community members were made aware of the different organizations and/or programs created to help them with any of the issues they face.
This kind of advocacy work is meant to provide awareness within the community so that community members themselves can speak up about the issues they face and how organizations like the YWCA of Queens and continue to advocate for them.
Special Thanks to the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs for sharing about IDNYC and DACA.
