ESL Valentine’s Day Party

Exciting things are happening at the YWCA’s ESL program!

Today two classes joined together (ESL l and ESL 2/3) to create a unique gift to give to their loved ones for Valentine’s Day!  Each student was given a mason jar and art supplies and were asked to transform their jar into a Valentine gift.  The results were outstanding!  The students were thrilled as many of them had never done anything like this before.  They were also encouraged to make their own card, which many did.  Each participant then presented their jar and card to the group.  This assignment not only allowed students to display their creativity, but also allowed them to practice their English language skills during their speech and when designing the cards.  The feedback gathered at the end of the class was positive and we are excited to have had another successful joint effort combining advanced and lower level ESL students!
