Celebrating a Traditional Lunar New Year

Yesterday we held our seniors’ annual Lunar New Year Celebration here at the YW. To bring in the New Year, families and friends gather over food and fun. The festivities began with a lunch of traditional New Year foods like sliced rice cakes and green onion pancakes. After lunch, our seniors were treated to an impromptu dance lesson. The bulk of the day was then spent on playing Korean folkgames. The winners received prizes for the most arrows thrown into a narrow wooden jar. The celebrations came to a close with a raffle. Everyone went home with something, including umbrellas, goody bags, and wonderful memories.
